FiftyWest Recording Studio was founded in 2018 by Fabian “FiftyWest” Valencia, owner and head engineer of FiftyWest Recording Studio. Located in the downtown Los Angeles, California area. FiftyWest Recording Studios’ rate is $50 per hour and includes an in-house engineer.

FiftyWest Recording Studio has had a wide variety of artists record at the studio over the years all ranging from beginner artists looking to establish their. Their past clients include: Frank$, Pretty Blanco, Valencia, Tehri Green, and many more. “I work with many up and coming artists who have stopped by my studio. The list is pretty long. I’ve also worked on different projects that included artists such as Memphis Bleek, Freddie Gibbs, Blue Bucks Clan, and Westside Boogie.” Fabian “FiftyWest” Valencia tells us.

We asked Fabian what inspired him to start his studio, he told us, “Many many years ago I was an artist making music. I went to a studio in Watts, CA named Backhouse Studio. There I met the owner Taco. Being in that studio and seeing him work really inspired me to start engineering myself.” We also asked what his studio means to him, he says “It’s my happy place. It brings me joy helping others bring their music to life.”

FiftyWest Recording Studio – $50/hour

We also asked Fabian about future plans for the studio, “I’m putting out my first project as an engineer entitled “FiftyMixedIt vol. 1”. I’m gathering different artists that I’ve worked with and putting them together on songs. All music will be recorded and mixed by me at my studio.” He tell us.

DUMBLIT Studios was founded in 2018 in Spring Lake Heights, NJ as an event support and merchandising brand. In 2020 they reformed and began laying the foundation for what they would become today. DUMBLIT is a premier entertainment company based at the Jersey Shore. They concern themselves in all facets of entertainment; beginning with their recording studios, their our team of live sound professionals, and finally their team of creative media specialists. Dumblit’s team of over 15 professionals is prepared to take on any challenge. Located in Eatontown, New Jersey, Dumblit Studios’ rate is $65 per hour and includes an in-house engineer.

We asked what inspired the start his studio, they told us, “We had been working in the recording business of New Jersey for years prior to Dumblit and realized if we wanted to see a change in the way our state’s music scene operated there was no better way to do it than to change it ourselves. We always had a love for making records, experimenting with different or new genres, and found ourselves creating a team that could do it all for the artist. We were (and are still) driven to be a one-stop-shop for an artist or creative professional; providing the recording, mixing, mastering, content planning, videography, photography, editing, marketing strategy, and live performance
support all under one roof.”

“Our studio is the world to us. We’ve created a location and a brand that someone can be totally creatively free without judgment. To us it represents a step in the right direction when correcting toxicity and the social hierarchy that some spaces exude before someone even steps in the door. We want everyone to step through our door to feel appreciated and supported no matter what stage of their career they’re approaching- because that’s what we wanted to experience when we were making our way through the ranks.” they tell us.

Dumblit Studios – $65/hour

We also asked them about future plans for the studio “We’re currently in the midst of expanding into other areas of entertainment. We have 2 full service recording studios at our Eatontown location- and our other departments, Media and Live Sound, are making strides in establishing our brand as a high level player in the entertainment world. Dumblit fully intends to be one of the largest players in entertainment across the world.”

“Our head engineer, ICantCook, was researching different ways to make our studio more discoverable and stumbled upon Stufinder.” they add.

The Velvet Room was founded in 2021 by recording and mixing engineer, Jeffrey Turner (@hefe.mixed.it) and his partner, producer TyyMachine. Located in the Koreatown part of Los Angeles, California The Velvet Room’s main room is $40 per hour without an in-house engineer, $200 for 6 hours, and $300 for 12 hours. Engineers are available on request. The studio has a u87, Chandler TC-2, TubeTech HEDD Type 30 Mains/HS8s Alts with 18″ Sub. ProTools/Logic, Aux/Dongle input and more.

We asked Jeffrey what inspired him to start his studio, he told us, “After being in the industry for a couple years, I needed the musical independence to provide a professional space to provide to clients at an affordable rate. With my like minded business partners, we were able to create a really special room..”

The Velvet Room – $40/hour

When we asked Jeffrey what his studio meant to him he told us, “everything. After one of the founders passed away 1 year ago, the focus and energy has been powerful. The amount of time and emotion that has been poured into this room is palpable.”

The studio has undergone some renovations and “there are some equipment upgrades and additional vibe additions in the works! Another location may or may not be in motion” Jeffrey adds.

Jet Blast Music was founded in June 2017 by engineer and producer Joseph Tucker, who is the sole proprietor of Jet Blast Music. Joseph is passionate about helping musicians create their best work and has been working in the music industry for over 20 years. Located in the heart of Long Beach, Jet Blast Music’s rate is $35 per hour and includes an in-house engineer.

The studio is 420 friendly and includes Lauten Audio Microphones, Aurora Audio GTP1 Never Style Input, Manley EQ strip, and a UK Sound 1176 Style Compressor.

Jet Blast Music has had a wide variety of artists record at the studio over the years, some of Joseph’s credits and past clients include: Mozzy, Drakeo The Ruler, Saviii 3rd, Baby Stone Gorillas, Remble, and many more.

We asked Joseph what inspired him to start his studio, he told us, “I’ve always been passionate about music, starting to play in Punk bands at the age of 16. I wanted to create a space where musicians could come together and create their best work. I wanted to provide a professional environment with state-of-the-art equipment, but I also wanted to create a space where musicians could feel comfortable and inspired.”

We also asked Joseph his future plans for the studio: “I’m always looking for ways to improve Jet Blast Music and make it even better for musicians. I’m planning on adding some new equipment in the near future, and I’m also looking into expanding our space. I want to make sure that Jet Blast Music is always the best place for musicians to create their best work.”

Jet Blast Music – $35/hour

Manic was founded in March 2021 by Toronto-based engineer and producer Matt Stevens. Located in the heart of the entertainment district on Toronto’s Queen Street West, Manic’s rate is $75 per hour and includes an in-house engineer, or you can rent the room for $45 per hour. Their clients include Denzel Curry, Jazz Cartier, Pressa, Ramriddlz, redveil, Roy Woods, Sean Leon, Strick, Yung Bleu, Yung Tory, WondaGurl, and many more. Matt himself also holds engineering credits on “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars and “Slow Wine” by J-Soul, and has also assisted Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, and Young Thug, to name a few.

The studio is home to the coveted Sony C-800G, a top of the line microphone used by the most iconic artists in the industry. There are only a few studios that have it available to access in the city.

The single “pg baby (Remix)” by redveil and Denzel Curry was recorded here late 2022, with Denzel providing his verse and redveil doing ad-libs.

We asked Matt what inspired him to start his studio, to which he attributed from working at other high-end studios, such as Cherry Beach Sound and The Orange Lounge in Toronto, and Criteria (The Hit Factory) in Miami.

Matt also explains to us that the studio name was inspired by the song “Manic”, by Canadian synth pop duo Prince Innocence.

Matt shares that his future plans for Manic include continuing to build with the most creative artists, adding an additional room to expand Manic’s accessibility to any artist through simultaneous sessions, and to extend being a leading creative hub for the Toronto music scene.

Matt discovered Stufinder through his friend and fellow producer Eric Campeau.

Manic Recording Studios – $75/hour

The Bunker Recording Studios was founded in February 2022 by producer and engineer Mike Tobinsky. Located in North Hollywood, California, The Bunker Recording Studios’ The Bunker Room is $50/hour and includes an in-house engineer, the room has a Neumann u87 mic running into the bae 1073 mic pre amp into a SA 76 ADG, and an art dual channel Opto compressor. The Bunker Recording Studios’ past clients include Lil Xan, Steven Cannon, Lamont Holt, Swank, as well as lots of local artists from the LA area/throughout the San Fernando Valley, and many more.

The biggest record mixed at The Bunker so far is “Pink Floyd Remix” by Jadys Birthday (ft. 03 Greedo). Mike assisted the mix with his good friend Tylor Bondar who is a platinum & gold engineer for Atlantic Records. 

“I started my studio initially because I had just a normal home setup but I could never bump as loud as I wanted to with my parents always there. I went to my first studio session in North Hollywood and right after that a week later I found a location and opened The Bunker Recording Studios after seeing what it was like to work in a professional studio environment.” Mike told us.

When we asked what what The Bunker Recording Studios mean to him, he says “My studio means everything to me. This is my life, my business, and my main source of income. Wouldn’t be where I’m at today without opening up The Bunker.”

Mike found out about Stufinder through his good friend Method who runs SKAB Studios over in NYC.

The Bunker Recording Studios – $50/hour

Abstract Studios was founded by producer Ante O’Connor and since its founding and launch 2020 during the pandemic, the studio has been able to make some buzz and have some significant Canadian artists in sessions. Located in the Vaughan, Ontario just 20 minutes from the Toronto area, Abstract Studios’ main room is $110/hour and includes an in-house engineer. Abstract Studios’ past clients include 2KBABY, Kiesza, Kwesi Arthur, Killy, Smiley, TVGUCCI, Yung Tory, Houdini, Duvy, Ramriddlz, Kofi, Dr. Bushman and many more.

The love of music inspired producer Ante O’Connor to create the studio. “We’ve been lucky to work on many big records. We just received a plaque for Over The Top performed by Smiley and Drake” he adds.

We asked Ante what the name Abstract Studios means to him and he says the “No right or wrong. Music is subjective. If it sounds right it is right.”

Abstract Studios also does video productions in-house and they recently opened up a production house.

Abstract Studios – Main Room $110/hour

Located in the North Park area of San Diego, You can book an hour session here for $100/hour, it includes an engineer. Rarefied Recording past clients include Slightly Stoopid, Unwritten Law, Rob $tone, Hirie, Streetlight Cadence, and Beach Goons. Rarefied has also been proud to host sessions for some amazing engineers/producers such as Darrell Thorp (Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Beck), Dennis Weinreich (Queen, Jeff Beck, Super Tramp), Tanner Sparks (Switchfoot, Weezer), and Brian Scheuble (Tom Petty, Ice Cube, Fiona Apple, Elton John).

Rarefied Recording was founded by Engineer Roy Silverstein in June of 2013.

“I started Rarefied to fulfill my personal dream of having a professional place to record and mix music. I came up through the home recording path, having started on a cassette 4 track in the 90’s and then slowly graduating up from there. I never worked in a studio, but I always took recording very seriously and became frustrated by the limitations of the bedroom/living room setups I had been operating in. So when I was able to afford it, I hired a studio designer (Wes Lachot) and built out Rarefied not knowing exactly where it would go, but excited to finally have a place with nothing holding me back from my highest potential. Little did I know the community of engineers I was about to become meshed with. That has driven the studio to greater heights and provided additional drive for me to maintain the space to the highest standards. Since September of 2015, Rarefied has been my full time gig as an owner/operator and chief engineer.” Roy Silverstein tells us.

We asked Roy what Rarefied meant and he told us “Rarefied is a word often associated with the upper echelons of a society or group of people. The most elite. The most talented. The cream of the cream. To rarefy (as a verb) also means to make more complex, intricate, and rich which musically speaking is essentially the goal. I’ve got the facility and tools at hand to refine one’s music to greater heights. That not only means exceptional room acoustics, but also a well curated equipment and instrument list. Another tie in to audio- sound in its most physical sense is simply the compression and RAREFACTION (expansion) of air. Those local air pressure changes are what the eardrum is sensitive to and what we perceive as sound.”

Roy Silverstein also had this to tell us “While it’s fun to see some of these very exclusive studios pop up on Stufinder that cost insane dollars, Rarefied has always been a place that empathizes with the plight of today’s independent artist. I’m acutely aware that the average artist/band has limited financial resources at their command. To this end, my M.O. has been to keep my overhead low and offer what I believe is a fair and attainable rate for most people while still supplying a facility and sonic result that matches what you’d expect from any top tier studio.
