What does Bit Depth mean?

The number of bits allowed for the dynamic range of an audio recording.

Bit Depth is the number of bits allowed for the dynamic range of an audio recording. Most music recording today is formatted to 16-bit or 24-bit. A larger bit depth means a wider dynamic range.
