What does Zone mean?

A zone is the keyboard mapping assigned to a sample or group of samples and controls pitch and velocity.

A zone is the keyboard mapping assigned to a sample or group of samples and controls pitch and velocity. In the context of KONTAKT for example, loading a C2 piano sample into KONTAKT will automatically assign the same sample into a zone across multiple octaves so that the sample can be played with a keyboard at different pitches.
